I am safe!

Reading a very interesting article today about weight loss and how our mind perceives lack or starvation, either mental or physical, as a direct attack on our feelings of safety.
This is an old mechanism of our primordial brain that translates all occurances in our life using our fight or flight response.
Do I run from this or do I stay?
Do I have to fight or am I ok?
This article was saying thta sometimes our bodies respond to stresses of any kind by keeping us fat to improve our feelings of safety.
We actually put on weight as a protective mechanism to save our bodies - yet our bodies really require us to be thin so that we can have the speed to "run" from that which can be destructive and harm us.
When we feel threatened by the "lack of" ,whether that is a material thing, such as money or empotional thing, such as love, we, on a very basic level feel unsafe - so we head to the fridge to try and fix it with something that we have a lot of, which is food. Some of us may go shopping or gamble or drink.
We try and balance those feelings of "lack" out with filling up on "more".
So if you have a problem with food - ask yourself, what am I feeling? That I am lacking or do I feel safe......
you may find an answer to that question and you will not have to reach for that extra biscuit after all.

8.08.08

This is one of the most auspiscious days ever for the Chinese!
Eight is their luckiest number.
We were recently in Langkawi, a small island off the coast of Malaysia and we stayed at a very small resort whose owner happened to be Chinese -
Each room in the resort had an eight in it!
By the way the number four is quite unlucky and many hotels do not have a fourth floor.
Some facts from Wikipedia:
The word for "eight" (八,捌) in Mandarin (Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth" ( - short for "发财", Pinyin: fā). In regional dialects the words for "eight" and "fortune" are also similar, eg Cantonese "baat" and "faat".
There is also a resemblance between two digits, "88", and the shuang xi ('double joy'), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters 喜 (xi, 'joy', 'happiness').
Telephone number 8888-8888 was sold for USD$270,723 in Chengdu, China.
The Summer Olympics in Beijing are scheduled to open on 8/8/08 at 8:08:08pm[2]
A man in Hangzhou offered to sell his license plate reading A88888 for RMB 1.12 million.[2]
Dragon Fish Industry in Singapore, a breeder of rare Asian Arowanas (which are "lucky fish" themselves, and, being a rare species, are required to be microchipped), makes sure to use numbers with plenty of eights in their microchip tag numbers, and appears to reserve particular numbers especially rich in eights and sixes (e.g. 702088880006688) for particularly valuable specimens.

The One has been chosen!

Last night was the night that saw Charmaine win " The One". Good Luck to her!
She did well - I know that the stress of working under those conditions would have been enormous and I have great respect for all of the psychics that went on the program.
We need more shows like this to highlight what psychics are capable of - there are enough charlatans around that give us all a bad rap!
