This is one of the most auspiscious days ever for the Chinese!
Eight is their luckiest number.
We were recently in Langkawi, a small island off the coast of Malaysia and we stayed at a very small resort whose owner happened to be Chinese -
Each room in the resort had an eight in it!
By the way the number four is quite unlucky and many hotels do not have a fourth floor.
Some facts from Wikipedia:
The word for "eight" (八，捌) in Mandarin (Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth" (发 - short for "发财", Pinyin: fā). In regional dialects the words for "eight" and "fortune" are also similar, eg Cantonese "baat" and "faat".

Last night was the night that saw Charmaine win " The One". Good Luck to her!
She did well - I know that the stress of working under those conditions would have been enormous and I have great respect for all of the psychics that went on the program.
We need more shows like this to highlight what psychics are capable of - there are enough charlatans around that give us all a bad rap!

It is a fundraiser for a local footy club!

There will be many stalls with books and crystals - also some reiki healers and angel readings.

Goddess Painting

Every year we do a painting at the Cottage to celebrate our anniversary.

It always amazes me how more than ten people can work on a painting and it can still turn out so good!

Here we have this year's creation - the white shadow at the bottom of the painting was a bit of spiritual participation caught on camera by one of our ladies named Helen. She has a knack of catching spirits in this way.

Congratulations to the "Cottage" at Waratah for four years of growth and spiritual work, for creating a haven of safety and security for those who have been seeking a place where they can be who they really are with integrity.

Thanks to Lisa, who is the owner of the Cottage house and has stayed committed to her dream - even in the financially tough times that we all face, and for the YAAD ( Year and a Day - Wiccan Learning ) Program that she set up last year.

We are about to see our first class "graduate" to Level One this weekend and also have another class full of participants starting their year and a day of studies as well.

We also have a few correspondence students involved in our YAAD studies - how exciting!

The Cottage has grown steadly over these past four years - with all the work always based in spirituality and wiccan ethics.

We also offer tarot readings, reiki, spiritual conseling, one on one wiccan studies and of course YAAD. We have weekly meeting groups, also soul collage, "stitch and bitch" and psychic development and tarot classes.

The group has remained friendly and open with the emphasis on accepting everyone and offering support and guidence for those asking for it.

The Cottage always remains in a position where we strive for everyone to find their own personal power, independance and confidence.

I am very honored to have remained part of the Cottage community over the past four years and my wish and hope is that the wonderful work that goes on there continues to grow and flourish on only the most psitive of ways.

To those of you who celebrate the great sabbat of Yule - here's wishing you a great weekend.

I would love to be travelling to the Blue Mountains, here in NSW, to join in the massive celebrations that they have there. It is certainly a brilliant day - with Katoomba closing for a huge street fair and procession.

I love the feeling of freedom and community in the mountains.

We are approaching the shortest day and the longest night of the year - traditionally, the time to celebrate Yule.

It is in the middle of winter and, as winter for us in the northern hemisphere is NOW, this is when we celebrate this sabbat ( of course this falls in December in the Northern hemisphere ).

The sabbat celebrates the birth of the sun ( or/and son of the Goddess ) and therefore is infused with male energies.

It is especially significant as we have a full moon occurring at the same time - for those that are sensitive to these energies you may be feeling "all over the place", emotional and lacking energy.

It is important to try to meditate and centre your energy back into your body and regain your feelings of equilibrium or you may find yourself needing to lie low for a day or two and just keep out of everybody's way until you return to your normal self.

Our ancestors were living through hard winters at this time of the year - there was not much to sustain them. The days were short and tempers would flair as whole families were living in enclosed spaces for long periods and had limited functions that they could perfom to keep them occupied.

Their thoughts would run to their stores of food, to the health of family members and their animals and to what needed to be repaired and whether there was enough water and wood to see them through the winter.

Yule was a time to celebrate the fact that the Wheel of the Year was about to turn and that the days would now be growing longer and warmer and the crops were about to be sown.

It was a time of contemplation for the coming spring and the birth of new ideas and commitments that would come to fruition in the summer time.

We, today, are lucky enough to have warm, safe clean houses. We can leave our home and get into our cars and drive where we need to go without too much of a crisis occuring.

We can go to the supermarket and get fresh bread, fruits and vegetables and there is always something to eat.

We can even get on the phone and have food delivered to our homes.

Winter for most of us is something that happens outside, and can often only be a minor inconvenience if we need to put on an extra jumper.

For our ancestors it was a time of hardship and worry.

We need to remember this and honour the work and sacrifice of those that have come before so that we can have what is around us today.

May your Yule be blessed with love and warmth from family and friends.

Lift a glass to your ancestoral history and thank them for being part of your family tree.

I also help facilitate a weekly learning group called “Around the Cauldron” where we discuss diverse topics including wicca, witchcraft, spiritualism, psychic development, esoterica and more in a friendly supportive atmosphere.

Party Bookings -
Please call to enquire about party bookings either at the Cottage or at your proposed venue.
I can suggest to you a time structure for multiple readings depending on the number of guests and your requirements.
Usually for about 6 or more people I work to a time frame of 15 - 20 minutes each at $30 per person.
Also another alternative 1s 10 - 15 minute readings for $20 per person.
If you have a larger party than in mind then a second reader can be arranged or we can discuss a “per hour” rate for Charity Functions.
Recent Appearances:
One of my latest functions was the “Turkish Night” in aid of Cancer Research held at New Lambton Community Centre - Newcastle held in March 2008.
